restrictions for 1:1 in person yoga site visit
I am delighted that you are looking at starting 1:1 Yoga practice with me. Before we get started, please be aware that in order for everyone involved to be safe and get the most out of a practice, a few boundaries apply. For the most part, the requirements shouldn’t be difficult, but they are all non-negotiable.
- Please make sure pets, children, and disruptive adults from your household are all cared for and out of the way during our sessions.
- Make sure you have a clean, flat space with enough room for two yoga mats and props.
- Please have showered within 24 hours of our session.
- It is a good idea to avoid eating 90 minutes prior to a session, especially any involving abdominal strengthening and balance work.
- Please minimize use of intoxicants prior to and during sessions as much as possible- impared judgement can lead to injury.
- An intake meeting is REQUIRED prior to a home meet.
- If a situation arises that appears unsafe, I will leave immediately and no refund will be issued.
restrictions for group classes
RESPECT is the operating word for group classes. You may find yourself in a room with people just like you, or that are very different from you. Everyone in the space is there to find their way to benefit from yoga. Please set aside all conversation that invokes comparison and competitiveness from the moment you enter the space until you leave.
All paths, religions, and non-religions are welcome so long as behavior is in alignment with yogic values (yamas and nimayas), especially those of ahimsa (non-violence) , asteya (non-stealing) and aparigraha (non-greed and non-competitiveness). These values call on class attendees to speak with kindness, to focus on themselves and their own practice rather than compare themselves to others, and to abstain from comments about bodies, size, and appearance.
As an act of respect and kindness to themselves and to others, class members also should arrive reasonably clean, and in appropriate clothing for gentle movement. Please have footwear that is safe for use on a mat – barefoot, or with socks. Socks and gloves with grips may help for people that struggle with “slippy mat” situations.
If a person behaves in a way that makes other class attendees feel unsafe, unwelcome, or embarrassed, that person will be asked to leave.
restrictions corporate yoga
If teaching a corporate yoga class, the same restrictions held for group classes apply. Also, the host/corporation must provide a clean, flat, well-ventilated space. The number of participants must be agreed to beforehand, with a limit of twenty people per class. An agreement and a liability waiver must be signed a minimum of 14 days prior to the corporate event.
